Our History & Growth

Pastor Skinner was led to begin Battlefield Baptist Church in the fall of 1980.  Battlefield began meeting in a Seventh Day Adventist Church until in October of 1982 when they purchased the Huntingwood Motel. In May of the following year the church broke ground on the 500 seat auditorium. After the building was completed, a tornado tore off the roof and the membership voted to enlarge the building to its present 1000 seat size. In April of 1993 the church built a family life center where many of the churches functions are conducted.  Today, we have a 33-acre campus.  

We are thankful for how God has blessed and allowed us to continue to grow in the Northern Virginia area!  Look below for how God has blessed over the years:

• 1982 - Purchased Huntingwood Motel
• 1983 - Built new 500 seat auditorium
• 1985 - Renovated main building to 1000 seat auditorium
• 1993 - Built new family life center with gym
• 1998 - Purchased mission house
• 1999 - Purchased 19.5 acres for future growth
• 2000 - Added 2 new Bible Study classroom wings
• 2001 - Added 3 new Bible Study classroom wings
• 2002 - Expanded and remodeled Nursery and Toddler classrooms 
• 2003 - Built new storage facility and teen activity center
• 2005 - Major renovation of main sanctuary
• 2006 - Remodeling of Teen activity center completed
• 2007 - Demolition of old motel
• 2007 - Construction begins on new 36,000 sq ft two-story educational and office building
• 2008 - Dedication of new educational building
