Upward Basketball and Cheerleading

 Upward Basketball is an evangelistic sports ministry dedicated to promoting community outreach, developing volunteer leadership church, and sharing the love of Christ with children and their families.
Specifically designed for Kindergarten through 6th grade boys and girls, Upward sports ministries seek to develop the self-esteem of each participant, while teaching sportsmanship, character, athletic skills, and respect for authority in every situation.
Since this program began almost ten years ago, we have experienced tremendous growth in participation. In fact, in 2007 our Upward Basketball program had over 350 children. 
In 2004, we added Cheerleading for the girls and recieved a tremendous response. Since then, Cheerleading has become a central part of the Upward League!
When & Where We Meet
All practices and games are held in the Battlefield Baptist Gyms. Practices are held during the week and games take place on Saturday mornings.
How Do I Sign-Up?
The Upward season runs in January and February. Two Evaluation Nights are held in October and November before the season. The purpose of the evaluation night is to determine the skill level of each player through a fun series of short drills. Evaluation night is not a try-out - the skill level for each player is only used to draft teams to have nearly equal capabilities. Each player registered will have a spot in the league as long as there is space available.
 Teams fill up fast, so please make the scheduled evaluation nights to best ensure a spot for your child. If you miss these two opportunities, please call the church to see if there is still space available.
